Luka Jalšovec (Čakovec, 2000) began his musical education privately as a percussionist and later enrolled in piano lessons. He graduated from Josip Slavenski High School in Čakovec, majoring in science and mathematics, and received his musical education at the Music School in Varaždin as a pianist in Lea Šantek’s class. In 2020, he enrolled in studies at the Zagreb Academy of Music, majoring in piano in the class of Prof. Veljko Glodić, Ph.D. He is the winner of piano awards at international competitions, he performed twice with the Varaždin Chamber Orchestra—once during the Varaždin Baroque Evenings Festival. He is trained at seminars in Croatia and Italy held by prominent pedagogues and pianists such as Đorđe Stanetti, Srđan Čaldarović, Nataša Veljković, Anthony Hewitt, Borys Fedorov, Tatiana Abaieva and others. In 2020, he held a solo recital at the Cultural Center in Čakovec. In addition to the piano, his other areas of interest are composition and jazz music. At the Academy of Music, he studied composition in the class of Prof. Srećko Bradić, thus he wrote compositions for piano solo and chamber works for piano and double bass that were premiered at the concert cycles of the Academy of Music. He performed at the Music Biennale Zagreb 2023 in the ensemble for freely improvised music in the project “Impromix” under the mentorship of Prof. Saša Nestorović, who is also his mentor in jazz improvisation. He performed several times as a member of the jazz orchestra of the Academy of Music. It is worth mentioning his performance of the Piano Concerto No. 4 Op. 40 by Sergei Rachmaninov in September 2023 at the Music School in Varaždin, when he was accompanied by pianist Matija Kranjčić. He currently attends the 4th year of the Piano Studies at the Zagreb Academy of Music.
