Mr. KREŠIMIR STARČEVIĆ—Executive Director, Social Networks Coordinator

Krešimir Starčević (Zagreb, 1988), Croatian pianist, started playing the piano at the age of 12 at Franjo Lučić Art School in Velika Gorica, in the class of Andreja Markulin. In 2007 he enrolled to Zagreb Music Academy in the class of Đorđe Stanetti. He finished his Bachelor’s degree in 2011 Magna cum laude and spent the academic year 2012/2013 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna as a part of Erasmus program, in the class of renowned Austrian pianist Stefan Vladar. He graduated in Zagreb in 2013, receiving Dean’s Award.

Mr. Starčević received many prizes in national and international piano competitions. The most significant are the second prize at the Zlatko Grgošević Competition, the first and the second prize at the Croatian National Competition of Music Students, the award of the City of Samobor at the Ferdo Livadić Competition and the third prize at the competition of Dino Škrapić Foundation.

He attended masterclasses of pianists and pedagogues such as K.-H. Kämmerling, E. Indjić, N. Flores, R. Dalibaltayan, P. Paleczny, N. Grubert, G. Gruzman, E. Hubert and D. Detoni. He is active organizer and promoter of classical music concerts. From 2009 to 2014 he was one of the Zagreb Virtuoso student concert cycle organizers. In 2014 and 2015 he was the Artistic Director of Zagreb Summer Evenings Festival. He is associate of Croatian Radio Educational Program.

For more than ten years he has been playing and performing with the saxophonist Lovro Merčep. He has also played with some other musicians like violinists Marco Graziani and Marin Maras, clarinetists Mihael Paar and Bruno Philipp, flutist Antonija Jurin and trumpet player Vedran Kocelj. From 2015 he has been playing regularly with the cellist Latica Anić, with whom he performed, among others, in Berlin in 2016. In 2017 he received Award for the best artistic collaboration at the Darko Lukić Competition for playing a recital with Ms. Anić at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb. Mr. Starčević was artistic collaborator of Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium in 2017, and for many years he has performed at the International Percussion Ensemble Week in Bjelovar. He played with many percussionists like Pei Ching Wu, Marianna Bednarska, Luis Camacho Montealegre and Filip Merčep.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Claude Debussy in 2018, he performed at The Croatian Music Institute in Zagreb Debussy’s complete piano chamber music works in chronological order, for the first time in Croatia, and this was in collaboration with Latica Anić, Marco Graziani and Bruno Philipp. The same year he received the City of Velika Gorica Award.

He played on various music festivals such as The Saint Mark’s Festival, Zagreb Music Biennale, Samobor Festival, Rijeka Summer Nights, Senj Concert Evenings, Rab Music Evenings, Pianofortissimo Cycle, Matica Hrvatska’s Days in Sarajevo and many others. As a pianist and producer, in 2016 he was taking part in the project of performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s complete 32 Piano Sonatas at Blagoje Bersa Concert Hall in Zagreb. As a soloist he performed with Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists and Zagreb Music Academy’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Saša Britvić, Pavle Dešpalj and Mladen Tarbuk.
